Hey Camper, check out our 040Parts tailgate prop. This cool piece is made from 3mm thick steel and keeps your tailgate safely open, even when it's loaded with a ton of gear and bikes. No more struggling with—or risking—that heavy tailgate. This little helper makes it all possible!
The tailgate prop locks automatically once you push the gate up. That means both hands free and your gate stays safely open without any hassle. To close the tailgate, just lift the prop slightly and the gas spring cylinder retracts smoothly.
It's compatible with VW Transporter and Multivan models. But heads up: not every model has the same gas springs. Before you buy, measure the length of the thin damper rod (should be at least 214 mm) and the diameter of the thick damper rod (max 32 mm). That way, you can make sure our tailgate prop is a perfect fit for your van.
And here's a pro tip: Our tailgate prop is not compatible with VW California models (Ocean, Coast, Comfortline, Beach). There's a separate version for those!
Even though our tailgate prop is built tough, it can get damaged if you apply too much force. So remember to unlock it first before closing or moving the tailgate.
